April 15th 2006: Flying to Waddan
We had nice weather and we took off at 11:30 AM. We flew with Claude, Fred and Alain. First we followed the coast and then in south-western direction into the desert.

Reception in Waddan
After landing in Waddan we saw a big crowd on the airport. The Waddan aero club had organized a big reception for us. After opening the cockpit somebody handed us blue baseball hats and gifts over and someone else was putting big stickers on the wing. The hangar was decorated with photos and we where shaking hands to several local politicians and other important people. People where very proud to have the first Libyan MCR Rally at their airport.
We had a nice lunch made by the local women at a little artificial lake. We had our rooms in simple cabins just beside the little lake.
Before sunset everybody went for a local “sunset flight”. Again many people on the airport. After that a quick visit to the Roman Citadel and a warm water source where water came at 75° out of the ground.
After that we where invited by the president of the airport for dinner. A nice big buffet with wonderful local food and life music. It was quit cold and most of us where happy to get a blanket. At the end we all received a box of fresh dates. Wonderful.
People where really trying everything to make the stay for us in Waddan as comfortable as possible.
The next morning there was a farewell ceremony, again with life music. The National anthem of Libya was played, lots of hand shaking, best wishes and the wishes to come again.
